Numerical Methods Students Present Projects

Project Presentations – 16th February 15:00

Three students will be presenting special projects completed as partial requirements of the course on numerical methods. Click here for more details of the course.

Pharmacokinetics of Magnesium-Sulfate – Ran Menirom
(on left)
The project presents a numeric solution for a compartmental pharmacokinetic model of the drug Magnesium-Sulfate, given to pregnant women in cases of premature delivery.

Freezing Frogs – Joel Shapiro (on the right)
The project's aim is to model the propagation the freezing front in a freeze-hardy frog (Rana Sylvatica). The numeric model includes two simultaneous PDEs with a moving boundary between them.

The Perfect Grilled Steak – Robert Hytymnh    (on the left)
This project aims to compute the time taken to grill a medium steak. The mathematical model accounts for heat transfer, accounting also density changes caused by water loss by evaporation.
